Carey Peerman, Ph.D.
An experienced nursing home administrator and professor, Dr. Peerman has worked across multiple healthcare settings in large and small healthcare companies, as well as an academic and as a consultant. With operational excellence as her core skill, she has built and executed thought leadership and quality programs for both small and large organizations. Additionally, she has implemented design thinking and innovation processes to support organizational strategy and development. Dr. Peerman helps clients and students on their journey to excellence.
Carey H. Peerman earned her Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership from Concordia University Chicago (2019), a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Radford University (2001), and a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Radford University (1998). Additionally, Dr. Peerman also holds certificates in Healthcare Administration- Long Term Care from Mary Baldwin College, Executive Leadership from The University of Notre Dame, Six Sigma Green Belt/Lean DFSS from Aventa, and a certificate in Gerontology from The University of Texas-Austin.
Dr. Peerman began her career as a nurse in a critical care unit, transitioned to an assisted living administrator and then a nursing home administrator. Dr. Peerman is presently an Assistant Professor for the Healthcare Administration program at Radford University. She is a Fellow in the American College of Health Care Executives, a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator, and a Registered Nurse. She also serves as a Healthcare Consultant and is owner of Clear Edge Consulting, LLC. Dr. Peerman’s research interests focus on long term care and leadership development. She is author of Authentic Leadership: Your Journey to a Five-Star Career. She is presently working on several publications and another book.
